1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the website owner.

Cookies do not contain executable code and cannot access other information stored on your device. Some cookies are placed directly by us (first-party cookies); others are placed by third-party services we use (third-party cookies).

Cookies can be:

  • Session cookies -- temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies -- cookies that remain on your device for a set period of time, or until you delete them manually.

2. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies to:

  • Ensure the Platform functions correctly and securely.
  • Remember your preferences and settings between visits.
  • Keep you signed in to your account during a session.
  • Understand how visitors use the Platform so we can improve it.
  • Measure the performance of our content.

We do not use cookies to serve third-party advertising, and we do not sell any data collected via cookies to third parties.

3. The Cookies We Use

The table below sets out the categories of cookies used on Chefs.studio, together with their purpose and duration.

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. They cannot be switched off. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as logging in, filling in forms, or setting privacy preferences. Without these cookies, the Platform cannot operate properly.

  • Session cookie -- Maintains your login session while you are using the Platform. Deleted when you close your browser.
  • CSRF token cookie -- Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks. Deleted when you close your browser.
  • Cookie consent cookie -- Stores your cookie preferences so we do not ask you again on every visit. Persistent; expires after 12 months.

3.2 Functional Cookies

These cookies allow the Platform to remember choices you make and provide enhanced, personalised features. If you disable these cookies, some features of the Platform may not function as intended.

  • Preference cookie -- Remembers settings such as your preferred language or display options. Persistent; expires after 12 months.
  • Authentication cookie -- Keeps you logged in between visits if you select "Remember me" during sign-in. Persistent; expires after 30 days.

3.3 Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors find and use Chefs.studio. The information collected is aggregated and anonymous -- it does not identify you personally. We use this data solely to improve the Platform.

Google Analytics cookies used on this site include:

  • _ga -- Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated number as a client identifier. Persistent; expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_[ID] -- Used by Google Analytics 4 to persist session state. Persistent; expires after 2 years.
  • _gid -- Distinguishes users. Persistent; expires after 24 hours.
  • _gat -- Used to throttle request rate to Google Analytics. Session cookie; expires after 1 minute.

Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC. For information on how Google handles this data, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We have enabled IP anonymisation in our Google Analytics configuration, meaning your full IP address is never stored by Google on our behalf.

4. Cookies We Do Not Use

Chefs.studio does not currently use:

If this changes in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy and, where required by law, seek your consent before placing any new categories of cookie.

5. Third-Party Cookies

Beyond Google Analytics (described above), certain third-party services embedded in the Platform may set their own cookies. These could include:

  • Embedded video players (such as YouTube or Vimeo), if used.
  • Comment or discussion tools, if enabled.
  • Font or content delivery networks.

We do not control third-party cookies and they are governed by the privacy policies of the relevant third parties. Where we embed third-party content, we take reasonable steps to minimise the cookies those services place on your device.
